Crips sue Detroit over faulty curb cuts
The Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America has sued the city of Detroit over sidewalk curb ramps they say are defective or too steep -- or missing altogether. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires curb cuts to be added when a street is resurfaced, says the suit, and lists a number of intersections recently resurfaced with have defective curb cuts -- or none at all.
"The complaint sets out hundreds of examples of defective curb ramps installed by the city in the last year and a half," attorney J. Mark Finnega told reporters.
