Crip camp volunteers lose again
Lauren Attard at Beyond The Ramp reports on Friday's 10th Circuit Court ruling:
The Muscular Dystrophy Association camp in Wichita, Kansas, did not need to hire volunteers with disabilities. Two volunteers, Gina Bauer and Suzanne Stolz, were denied the opportunity to volunteer at the camp where they once were campers because they could not "lift and care for a camper"...

The title on this abstract of the article, "Crip Camp ...," is offensive and derogatory. This is a politically uncorrect word that hasn't been used in a long time.

The term "crip" is an in-group usage, much like "queer." See Robert McRuer's new book, Crip Theory: Cultural Signs of Queerness And Disability.
