IN group surveys polling sites, finds most still inaccessible
LAKE COUNTY, IN, Aug. 5, 2004 -- Lake County, in northwest Indiana, has 400 polling site. Only 19 comply with access requirements of the Help America Vote Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. That's what Count Us IN, a project sponsored by the Indiana Governor's Planning Council for People with Disabilities, found when they surveyed the sites on primary election day, May 4, and tallied the results. Not a lot of access.
