Senate Passes IDEA Bill; Disability Advocates Satisfied

WASHINGTON, DC, May 13, 2004 --The Senate passed a new Individuals with Disabilities Education Act on Thursday, and advocates who worked on the bill expressed satisfaction. " All attempts to cap parents' attorneys' fees were thwarted," and the bill "conforms the IDEA to other civil rights laws," said the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund, one of the groups which worked with the bill.
