Washington, DC, Feb. 26, 2003 -- Disability advocate Bonnie O'Day has filed the first formal complaint to the Federal Trade Commission seeking to enforce rights provided under Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Both Audiovox Communications Corporation and Verizon Wireless, Inc. have failed to make their wireless telephones and services accessible to people who are blind and visually impaired, she says.
